On June 7 local time, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that if Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, funds Democratic candidates opposing the Republican budget bill, there would be “very serious consequences.”

Trump declared, “If he does that, he will pay the price for it,” though he did not specify what actions might be taken. He added that he no longer has any intention of mending his relationship with Musk, saying, “I believe that relationship is over.”
The two have recently clashed publicly on social media over the Republican-led budget proposal. Trump accused Musk of being “deeply disrespectful to the presidency.” Earlier, Musk criticized the Biden administration’s large-scale tax and spending bill on his platform X (formerly Twitter), took aim at Trump, and even reposted content related to past scandals involving Jeffrey Epstein, which he later deleted.
In response, Trump dismissed the Epstein-related allegations as “old stories” and denied any association with him.
Additionally, Trump threatened that he holds the authority to revoke government contracts and subsidies granted to Musk’s companies, although no action has yet been taken. He emphasized that the Republican Party is more united than ever and expressed optimism about the successful passage of the budget proposal.
