Musk Criticizes ‘Beautiful Big Act’ Again for Increasing Debt, Claims US Two-Party System Is Essentially One-Party Rule

Less than a month after his previous attack, Elon Musk has once again lashed out at the “Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping tax cut and spending plan strongly backed by President Trump—threatening to unseat lawmakers who support it and declaring that the United States is now a one-party state, vowing to found a new political party.

The “Beautiful Bill” narrowly cleared the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22 by a single vote and passed a procedural vote in the Senate on June 28 by a margin of just two votes. The Senate is still slogging through a lengthy amendment process, aiming to send the bill to the White House by July 4.

On June 30 local time, Musk posted multiple statements on his social media platform X, blasting the “Beautiful Bill”: “Clearly, this insane spending bill—which raises the debt ceiling by a record-breaking $5 trillion—shows we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”

“They just pretend to be two parties, but in fact, it’s a one-party system,” Musk wrote. “It’s time to build a new political party that truly cares about the people.” He also shared a post and a chart showing the steady annual increase in U.S. national debt.

In another post, Musk targeted lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill: “Every member of Congress who campaigned on cutting government spending, only to turn around and vote for the largest debt increase in history, should hang their head in shame!” Musk declared.

He added, “If the last thing I ever do on this planet is to make sure they lose their primaries next year, so be it.”

On July 1 local time, Musk posted again, writing: “If this insane spending bill passes, the next day the ‘America Party’ will be founded.”

He continued, “Our country needs an alternative to the joint forces of the Democrats and Republicans—one that truly gives the people a voice.”

Earlier, on June 28, ahead of the Senate vote, Musk had also posted that the latest draft of the “Beautiful Bill” under Senate review would “destroy millions of American jobs and cause massive damage to our country.”

He denounced the bill as “insanely reckless and destructive,” saying it “throws scraps at sunset industries while severely harming future industries.”

Musk added: “This bill raises the debt ceiling by $5 trillion—the largest increase in history—putting America on the fast track to debt slavery.”

Just hours after Musk’s remarks, in the early hours of July 1, President Trump posted on his “Truth Social” platform, saying the Tesla CEO “has received more subsidies than anyone in history” and hinted that the government’s Office of Efficiency—previously led by Musk—might “take a good, hard look” at his companies.

“Long before he so strongly supported my presidential run, Elon Musk knew I was firmly against EV mandates. They’re ridiculous and have always been a big part of my campaign,” Trump wrote. “EVs are fine, but no one should be forced to buy one.”

The EV mandate Trump referred to involves plans by some U.S. states, such as California, to phase out gasoline-powered vehicles in favor of electric vehicles.

“So far, Elon has likely received more subsidies than anyone ever. Without subsidies, Elon probably would’ve shut down long ago and gone back to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or EV production—we’d save a fortune,” Trump said.

“Maybe we should have the Office of Efficiency take a good, hard look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!” Trump concluded.

Earlier, the White House cited Trump’s remarks during his June 29 Fox News interview, in which he claimed Musk’s discontent stemmed from the bill’s plan to terminate subsidies for electric vehicles.

Trump said Musk’s recent behavior was “improper.” “The forced EV policy is a tough thing for him. You know, I don’t want everyone to be forced to have an electric car.”

In the same interview, Trump added, “I think Elon is a great guy, and I know he’ll always do well. He’s a smart man.”

Earlier this June, tensions between Musk and Trump over the “Beautiful Bill” escalated into an open feud, with Musk launching a series of posts savaging the bill, arguing that it undermined his efforts to curb the U.S. budget deficit, denouncing the bill’s massive scale and “pork-filled” nature as “disgusting,” and calling lawmakers who voted for it “shameful.”

Trump, in response, argued that Musk’s discontent stemmed from the bill’s proposal to eliminate EV consumer tax credits—directly impacting Musk’s interests as Tesla’s CEO.

Musk fired back at Trump but later walked back part of his remarks. Back on June 5, he had already floated the idea of creating a new political party.
